Schitt's Creek Final Episode Review

I just finished the last episode of Schitt's Creek and yes it was extremely emotional and I was a mess (but it was mostly happy tears) after watching those last couple of scenes as it was truly something special and different, creating this masterpiece. I wanted to squeeze this episode in with my season 6 review, but frankly it was too long, special and separate for me to do so, therefore I thought it would be perfect to write a separate review for this amazing episode as it is so good it deserves that as well and a perfect way for me to say farewell to my new favorite show. Schitt's Creek impacted me more than I ever thought it would and made me feel supported and comforted during difficult times in more than just one way and I will always admire Dan and Eugene Levy and the entire cast/crew of this series for their extremely influential, impactful and special work that changed me for the better and made me feel so much better.  It was for sure the last episode of this stellar show :( , but it was something truly fantastic and exceeded all of my already high expectations. This review gets very serious, personal and emotional and definitely expands a bit out of the episode. There aren't major spoilers, but don't read if you haven't seen the episode and you want to be completely surprised by the events (which I recommend).

Schitt's Creek's "Happy Ending" Review:
There are almost no words to describe this finale because nothing I say would ever give justice to how amazing it is and how it wraps up our journey in Schitt's Creek. I barely will give 100% to anything and while I saw why some people disliked this episode, I couldn't agree with any one of them as each character got to shine, fans were given easter eggs from previous seasons and an emotional, satisfying finale that wrapped up a perfect show, therefore I pretty much had no choice but to give this 100% because that is how I truly feel about this episode and its legacy. I'll try to sum it up and say my ideas in the best way possible, but I really want to stress that the episode is honestly like five times better than how I will describe it and is something extremely special.

As David's wedding faces obstacles due to the horrifying weather outside, he begins to panic about how this special day will go on, so his family and soon to be husband attempt to calm him down and save the day so it can be as close to David's dream wedding as it can possibly be. During this emotional goodbye, we are met with the usual Schitt's Creek humor as well as each character getting to say their goodbye to the audience (and each other) as the happy day creates the happy ending David and Patrick wanted while also leading to the sadder events that will be following the morning after for Moira and Johnny. This episode played with your emotions in a bittersweet way too as you are overjoyed with the results but are devastated that this fantastic show is coming to an end, and even I admit that every time I see the last couple scenes in this episode I start crying and when I first watched it, I was a sobbing mess with mostly happy tears because it is so well made and concluded (in a way that will make you sob) and really impacts you greatly in a way no other episode did for this show.

The storyline flows so greatly in this episode, the writing made this the perfect way to end the series and the acting is beyond anything I have seen for a comedy show as it is truly a standout moment for everything in this show. However, I must admit that Dan Levy stood out in this episode and really showed his superior acting skills as David and how deep he has gotten into the character in what I would argue is his best work in Schitt's Creek. It also certainly helps that Noah Reid plays Patrick perfectly and continues that chemistry with Dan Levy that makes their relationship so unique and special in a way that only David and Patrick could do that inspired the show and episode forwards (I was certainly not ready and still am not ready to say goodbye to David and Patrick). Eugene Levy is amazing as always and Annie Murphy shines as Alexis as she almost flashes through all the different sides the character has in a very short time, indicating her growth and stellar performance as Alexis.

In addition, Catherine O'Hara as the officiant for the wedding is something truly special and in my opinion should win her the Emmy right away as we see this raw emotional side to Moira we have never seen, showing how fantastic this episode is that it even managed to squeeze in some character growth instead of just a reflection of the characters' development (which it expertly does). Emily Hampshire brings a new emotional side to Stevie that represented her capability as an actor and allowing us to give an again bittersweet but satisfying and amazing goodbye to the character while the other supporting cast including Jennifer Robertson and Chris Elliot each get their time to shine and give one last moment to those characters they have created. There is literally something for everyone in this episode! I'm not gonna lie that this episode will leave you wanting more, but as with every series finale, it's just hard to say goodbye and I think although I would love to see more from this perfect show, I respect the conclusion decision and thought the season created a truly wonderful way to wrap it up in the best way they possibly could and a way that no show other than Schitt's Creek could do.

This episode also packed in almost everything I could hope for including references from previous seasons ranging from "don't worry, it"s his sister" to the crows and special moments that made it an episode to be remembered and really felt like the glorious light that the show was always leaning towards which is something they miraculously created for this episode as you can tell how much emotion, thought and heart they put into crafting this exquisite and beyond exceptional episode.  This episode touched me a lot and was the first time in a long time that I cried or sobbed in a television show or movie (and that includes Modern Family) and I can't even get through those scenes without crying because it hits me so hard (in a bittersweet way) with how far the storyline and characters have each come and the experience of the wedding is unforgettable and not only continues the show's LGBTQ+ legacy, but also gives its audiences the ending it deserves unlike some other comedy shows that have failed to do so. I cannot capture through these words how much I loved this episode and what it meant to me, so I will just simply say that it helped me in a difficult time and touched me in a way no other show has for a variety of reasons and while watching, it was like I was re-living all the events from Schitt's Creek and going on a journey into the past even though I literally started the show this April, and the fact that this show did that for someone who hadn't watched this show really long is so unbelievable and I will never understand how Dan and Eugene Levy and all the other directors, producers or writers managed to make this episode as great as it was.

I'm getting emotional just writing this as I'm going to miss this show so much and its amazing affect it had on me especially right now, consequently this series finale was really something special to me (sorry to add in my bias again), therefore, overall, this FINAL :( episode of Schitt's Creek and it's wonderful season 6 is a tantalizing, refreshing, emotional (you will cry most likely) and unbelievably amazing masterpiece, meshing in every character and idea, reflection, storyline, happy endings, stellar character development, superb acting, wonderful directing, marvelous and magnificent writing, unique but great costumes, makeup, hair (Moira at the wedding), production designs, fan service and traditional Schitt's Creek qualities that concluded this beyond fantastic series in the perfect way by making me feel really impacted and shockingly emotional in this conclusion to a journey I never knew I needed.

I can't express how wonderful I thought this journey through Schitt's Creek was  through words, but I definitely believe it is one of the best shows out there (if not the best). I will always "preciously love" this episode and it will have a special place in my heart as "simply the best" conclusion to a priceless, masterful, transcendent, unparalleled, fantastic, splendid and overall amusing/humorous show. I always felt at home and supported (it was almost like my escape from stress or worries) when watching this show and it either broke or filled our hearts in all the best ways possible as we went through this unique and strange but welcoming and comforting town that is Schitt's Creek and this spectacular episode did justice to its legacy in the perfect way in something that I will truly always  respect, admire, look up to and remember as it magically and magnificently ended this masterpiece of a show that is Schitt's Creek. As Johnny Rose says, "It's not Schittsville, it's SCHITT"S CREEK!
